Healthy Start (also called SCHIP) is a Medicaid program available to children (younger than age 19) in families with income up to 200% of the federal poverty level and pregnant women in families with income up to 200% of the federal poverty level.

  • Eligibility:
    Available to children up to age 19 and pregnant women. Applicants must reapply for coverage every 12 months because income changes may affect eligibility status.
    Other Information:
    Ohio's Medicaid program provides a rich package of services that includes preventive care for consumers. Some services are limited by dollar amount, number of visits per year, or setting in which they can be provided.
