The program can also be used to supplement most health insurance plans including health savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible plans. Additionally, it can be used as a Medicare Part D supplement by providing discounts on non-covered drugs.
The New Mexico Drug Card is now working with the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and the New Mexico Medical Society to create awareness for the program. Residents can download a free card by visiting www.NewMexicoDrugCard.com . Any New Mexico resident, regardless of age or income level, is able to obtain a card. There are no applications to fill out and savings can be as high as 80% on some medications. The program is completely confidential, and all cards are pre-activated and do not expire. The program is accepted at Albertsons Sav-on, Smith's, CVS/pharmacy, Kmart, Target, Walgreens, Walmart, and at more than 68,000 participating national and regional pharmacies.
