The Rhode Island Rx Card is the statewide prescription assistance program available to anyone living or working in the state. Everyone is eligible to receive savings through this free program and there are no applications, no restrictions and no eligibility requirements.
The Rhode Island Rx Card is now working with the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the Rhode Island Medical Society to create awareness for the program. The program was launched in March 2009 to offer assistance to the uninsured and underinsured. Program directors, along with the Greater Providence Chamber, are creating awareness statewide by establishing distribution sites with clinics, hospitals and other organizations. The RIRX Card can also be used to discount prescription medications that are not covered by insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. Residents can save up to 80% on most brand and generic medications, with an average savings of 30%.
Residents can print a free pre-activated card, locate participating pharmacies, and search drug pricing by visiting www.RIRX.com. Those not able to obtain a hard card can visit any CVS/pharmacy in Rhode Island and ask to have their prescription processed through the program. The Rhode Island Rx Card is accepted at over 68,000 pharmacies nationwide including CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens, Rite-Aid and Walmart.
With today's cost of health care, the Rhode Island Rx Card is your simple solution to the high cost of prescription medications. To print a pre-activated card, locate a nearby participating pharmacy, and even search drug pricing, simply visit the website at www.rhodeislandrxcard.com.
