Eligibility Requirements:
An individual must qualify each month for continued coverage. The monthly income standard varies between approximately 55% and 133% of the Federal Poverty Level, depending on category. A person whose income exceeds the monthly income limit may be considered for the Medically Needy program. This program, also referred to as the "spenddown" program, allows a person who is otherwise eligible either to pay "excess" monthly income to the State of Utah or to accept responsibility for a portion of their monthly medical bills. The resource limit varies, depending on the category of Medicaid. There is no resource limit for newborn children or pregnant women. Otherwise, the typical limit is $2,000 for an individual, $3,000 for two persons, with $25.00 added for each additional person.

Program Description:
Utah Drug Card is a free statewide prescription assistance program designed to help the residents of Utah afford their prescription medications. The Utah Drug Card launched October 2009 and is available to every resident of Utah regardless of age or income. The program offers savings of up to 80% on prescription medications. In addition to offering savings on both brand and generic medications, the Utah Drug Card also provides savings on many pet medications.
Since inception, Utah Drug Card has saved the residents of Utah over $39 million on their medication costs. In an effort to further spread awareness, they have partnered with organizations including; Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Utah State Chamber of Commerce, The Utah Non Profit, Utah Small Business Coalition and Utah Hospitals and Health Systems Association.
To obtain your free Utah Drug Card, simply visit www.utahdrugcard.com and print as many pre-activated cards that you and your family need. Utahans unable to obtain a card may call 801-709-4088 to have one mailed. The Utah Drug Card is accepted at Albertsons Sav-on, Kmart, Shopko, Smith's, Target, Walgreens, Walmart, and many more.

The Children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP is a state health insurance plan for children. Depending on income and family size, working Utah families who do not have other health insurance may qualify for CHIP.
