FDA Approves Flonase Allergy Relief For Over The Counter Use
February 6, 2015
On July 28 2014, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Flonase Allergy Relief as an over the counter medication. Before making the switch from prescription to over the counter the FDA requires an evaluation for safety and efficacy. Flonase is the second nasal steroid approved for over the counter medication without a prescription.
Flonase is the first and only nasal spray used for both the eye and nose allergy symptoms which makes it unique. It is a temporary relief treatment for the symptoms of hay fever or upper respiratory allergies. It also has a prescription-strength, non-drowsy formula.
